Review:

I enjoyed the Noodle soup this afternoon, which did a great job of helping to settle my stomach. The broth was flavorful, chicken was tender, vegetables fresh, and overall very good. I love the camaraderie, as I believe all of the staff served me at some point. The decor is nice and simple, and very clean. I will definitely be back!

We just had a great lunch here. My husband and I both had their pork chow fun with black bean sauce. The people are extremely friendly, and the service was quick and attentive. We remember Blessings when they were located at the front of this shopping center. We were sorry to see them go and now we are so pleased to see them back. The owner came out to talk to us and it was such a nice experience. They have a older gentleman who seated us and took out order: very friendly and encouraged us to have our chow fun with the black bean sauce..which I am very glad he did. We will definitely return. Prices are very fair and the menu is varied.

You don’t need to go far if you’re looking for quality Chinese food. Blessings has re-opened! Yes I said it it is back again and in the same complex but re-located in the back area near FedEx.. I highly recommend getting the chow mein and the pot stickers. Already the owner knows my name which can’t be helped since I love the food. It’s not greasy like many other locations and the service has always been wonderful. So if you’re looking to have a night to yourself or with friends/ family I highly suggest going here. Oh yeah, and just as an added reminder they accept debt and cash only.

Review:

They have all the regular variety of dumplings and special desserts that I crave at dim sum so no complaints there. They also bring you food relatively quickly after you sit down. We did notice that service tapered off after the initial rush though. I suggest assertiveness when tracking down the dim sum waitresses. Some basic Cantonese skills will go a long way.

Love the steamed fish. It’s a healthy pick, and it’s always so light and delicious. Definitely not something we can make at home! We’ve had a variety of dishes over our visits. A mushroom dish sticks out in my memory, but really everything has been good. I recommend asking the waiter/owner (tall-ish Asian man who doesn’t speak much English) what he suggests, because whenever he makes recommendations it’s usually our favorite dish of the night. There’s lots of parking, and lots of seating, so it’s good for groups. I’ve never had the dim sum, but I’d like to try it. They didn’t have coffee though, and once I really really needed it. But maybe the waitress didn’t understand what I was asking her.

Most of the dim sum we tried were pretty good though, good enough for a Hong Kong standard. The price is average, not cheap but not too pricey. But I wish they could improve their service. Be more attentive, sincere and smile more!

The staff is nice, but I wish they were a little more attentive. There is a lot of confusion depending on who you get coming to your table and fulfill your order. I also saw them poach dishes from orders if someone was waiting for food they had ordered.

Review:

I really can’t say enough bad things about this place. I’m really hoping maybe I just had a terrible, out-of-the-ordinary experience, on a bad day because our food was inedible. It looked (although I’m sure tasted better) than dog food. We ordered I guess what you would call from the menu orange chicken and cashew chicken…so don’t get those two items. We took it home to eat, opened it up, and my boyfriend who can just eat about anything wouldn’t even finish it let alone eat more bites of the meal. I was so upset since this place is right down the street from our house and would be so nice to have a tasty Chinese place so close. From the other reviews I’m wondering what happened to our meal, but I’m not going to take the chance and go back. Suggestion…don’t go….or try and support and try for yourself…its your stomach.

Finally a close by Chinese restaurant that serves up real Chinese food. Thank you to the other reviewers who point out the Chef’s Specialty section of the menu. I would have otherwise NEVER set foot at Bo’s. We had the napa cabbage rice cake (sort of like a chewy rice based flat noodle), and the boiled beef. I agree the menu items are western China/Sichuan. Yes, you can definitely get better in the south bay, but I think Bo’s does a fine job at the specialty dishes and I commend them on having the guts to put some authentic items on their menu.

I went back and had the gringo “Lunch special” fare again. I had the lunch special stuff months back and found it forgettable enough not to write a review, but loved the authentic Chinese dishes. HO HO!, They’ve turned a corner! I had the typical Mongolian Beef, and my Samoan attorney had Kung Pao Chicken. You can’t get more Americanized mainstream than that…and they were both very good! Egg roll still tasted thick and frozen food like. Egg drop soup however was up a step! Both meal’s meats were high quality and seasoned/cooked to perfection. Bottom line…I really like this place for their truly chinese dishes on the “chinese specialty menu” (see link to my earlier review below) and now also for the “regular american menu”, and the people and service really can’t be beat. I’m still looking for a Chinese five star, but I’m not sure if it exists on this side of the hill.

Review:

Stopped by for some take out the other night. Watching the A’s game with nachos, again, just wasn’t going to cut it. We ordered the Hong Kong chicken, veggie chow mein (not listed as part of the menu but they can make it for you) and spring rolls. The hong kong chicken is similar to orange chicken but with peas and carrots and a better kick. Chow mein was decent but I think it over cooked a little on the car ride home. Spring rolls were a little oily but still crispy when we got home. It was a little out of the way to drive for chinese but still worth it.

1. If you go here with an open mind, it’s almost a sure bet that you’ll end up enjoying your meal here.

2. Explanation: the decor is… old and outdated; stereotypical Chinese circa 1970s. Depending on the time you go (ie early dinner), it might appear empty (but they do a lot of take out). Authenticity? No. But then again, how many Chinese restaurants are “authentic”? Most Americans don’t know what authentic Chinese food is and many wouldn’t like it anyway.

3. With the above being said, if you simply want to have good tasting food, very freshly prepared, at a decent price, via very friendly staff, then just trust most of the folks who’ve positively reviewed this place; yes, it is a definite no brainer for good Chinese food. Enjoy.

Review:

I myself have only had good experiences here. Of course, I only go at lunch time where they bring your food out SUPER QUICK and are again QUICK to drop your bill off 5 minutes after they’ve served you your food. Not bad for those that are on a 60 minute lunch break though. I highly, highly recommend the Mandrin Fired Chicken! The Chicken, half fried rice, and half chowmein makes one hell of a lunch!

Have come here a couple of times for lunch with coworkers. We have always been seated and orders taken right away. The staff is friendly and attentive. I have gotten the chicken curry and garlic chicken, both were good and they give you plenty that you have to take the rest home (which is enough for a whole other meal). Prices are very reasonable.

Without a doubt the surliest waitstaff I’ve seen in a long time. “You order now?” “What you want?” “You? Next, you?” “Steam or fried, steam or fried?” Ok, I get it, forget the charm and prepositions, let’s just move on to business.

The food is unremarkable. I had sweet and sour fish, it was just as you would expect, fried with a day-glo sauce. The soup and salads that they give to each person is totally mediocre. I had a weird metallic taste in my mouth after my lunch. I usually get that with MSG, but we asked and they said there was no MSG before we ordered, but who really knows.

I agree with Daniel M., the prices are negotiable. Each person’s lunch was a dollar more than listed on the menu, with no notice. I guess the menu sets a price “suggestion.” I suggest they write their prices down.

I wouldn’t go back. Chinese lunch places are a dime a dozen, and there are other places that have the real prices listed with nicer service.

This place IS really out of the way, which can actually be a good thing if you’re not into the whole “screaming children two booths away” thing that seems to prevalent at other Chinese restaurants. The place itself is very clean and well kept (no duct tape on their seats!) even if the decor is a little dated. The menu offers a really wide selection including a lot of tofu and vegetarian options, and a wide variety of soups. If you get coupons for the area (like my folks do) there’s a good deal for their dinner special. The portions are *huge*, and inexpensive too. We went and for $30 got enough food for about six people. And while I’ll agree that in terms of Chineseness this isn’t the best – it is thoroughly Americanized Chinese cuisine – it’s remarkably well prepared. The soup was made with fresh, tasty vegetables, the won tons were flavorful and fully cooked, the egg rolls were crunchy and good, and the entree plates weren’t greasy at all. Not greasy! Amazing! On top of this, the wait staff is very friendly and efficient, and it’s clear that they actually speak fluent English so if you have a special request, they can actually help.

Pros:
-Fast service. I place the order and 5 minutes later it was done.
-Cup of soup included with the lunch and an eggroll.
-The chef asked me how hot I wanted the mongolian beef, that’s a first!
-Lots of food, relatively cheap for Pleasanton

Cons:
-As a person who has eaten at a lot of Chinese places and being Chinese for one, the food was a C at best. Maybe it’s because I got the mongolian beef, but I’ll follow up one more time. The beef tasted…fishy, could it be they reused the oil?! ::gasp:: most likely…

Review:

We had a large party of 8 and when we arrived, our table wasn’t ready. Since they didn’t have a bar, we walked two doors down to their sister restaurant to enjoy a cocktail while we waited. 10 minutes later we were called to our table. The service was prompt, friendly and sincere. The food was just incredible!!!!!! I am a steak snob and their rib eye was tops!!! I had read the previous reviews before our dining and almost cancelled based on the other comments. But I’m glad I didn’t, because I was the hero of our group of friends for recommending such a great place. No complaints amongst anyone, in fact, just the opposite…..rave reviews!! We will be dining there again soon and will recommend Mahalo to other freinds and family. We had four adults and two younger children with us for our first visit.

We had 5pm reservations, brought our own wine, which the corkage fee is $20.00. For a place like this that was $10-$15 to much! Dinner went good, food is good although so overpriced for the area. At about 7pm we were finishing up with dessert, our bill was $350 with tip and the manager came up to our table and asked us to leave because the next reservation was waiting for our table. I was so upset. I wrote a letter, mgt offered $50.00 off our next visit, but I have not been back because $50.00 does not even cover two people, and we were six people inconvienced.

* Pros: good seafood, nice presentation

* Cons: price, parking, service
