<p>They have all the regular variety of dumplings and special desserts that I crave at <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/dim-sum/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with dim sum">dim sum</a> so no complaints there. They also bring you food relatively quickly after you sit down. We did notice that service tapered off after the initial rush though. I suggest assertiveness when tracking down the <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/dim-sum/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with dim sum">dim sum</a> waitresses. Some basic Cantonese skills will go a long way.</p>
<p>Love the steamed fish. It&#8217;s a healthy pick, and it&#8217;s always so light and delicious. Definitely not something we can make at home! We&#8217;ve had a variety of dishes over our visits. A mushroom dish sticks out in my memory, but really everything has been good. I recommend asking the waiter/owner (tall-ish Asian man who doesn&#8217;t speak much English) what he suggests, because whenever he makes recommendations it&#8217;s usually our favorite dish of the night. There&#8217;s lots of parking, and lots of seating, so it&#8217;s good for groups. I&#8217;ve never had the <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/dim-sum/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with dim sum">dim sum</a>, but I&#8217;d like to try it. They didn&#8217;t have coffee though, and once I really really needed it. But maybe the waitress didn&#8217;t understand what I was asking her.</p>
<p>Most of the <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/dim-sum/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with dim sum">dim sum</a> we tried were pretty good though, good enough for a Hong Kong standard. The price is average, not cheap but not too pricey. But I wish they could improve their service. Be more attentive, sincere and smile more!</p>
<p>The staff is nice, but I wish they were a little more attentive. There is a lot of confusion depending on who you get coming to your table and fulfill your order. I also saw them poach dishes from orders if someone was waiting for food they had ordered.</p>

<p>I really can&#8217;t say enough bad things about this place. I&#8217;m really hoping maybe I just had a terrible, out-of-the-ordinary experience, on a bad day because our food was inedible. It looked (although I&#8217;m sure tasted better) than dog food. We ordered I guess what you would call from the menu orange chicken and cashew chicken&#8230;so don&#8217;t get those two items. We took it home to eat, opened it up, and my boyfriend who can just eat about anything wouldn&#8217;t even finish it let alone eat more bites of the meal. I was so upset since this place is right down the street from our house and would be so nice to have a tasty Chinese place so close. From the other reviews I&#8217;m wondering what happened to our meal, but I&#8217;m not going to take the chance and go back. Suggestion&#8230;don&#8217;t go&#8230;.or try and support and try for yourself&#8230;its your stomach.</p>
<p>Finally a close by <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/chinese-restaurant/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with chinese restaurant">Chinese restaurant</a> that serves up real <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/chinese-food/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with chinese food">Chinese food</a>. Thank you to the other reviewers who point out the Chef&#8217;s Specialty section of the menu. I would have otherwise NEVER set foot at Bo&#8217;s. We had the napa cabbage rice cake (sort of like a chewy rice based flat noodle), and the boiled beef. I agree the menu items are western China/Sichuan. Yes, you can definitely get better in the south bay, but I think Bo&#8217;s does a fine job at the specialty dishes and I commend them on having the guts to put some authentic items on their menu.</p>
<p>I went back and had the gringo &#8220;Lunch special&#8221; fare again. I had the lunch special stuff months back and found it forgettable enough not to write a review, but loved the authentic Chinese dishes. HO HO!, They&#8217;ve turned a corner! I had the typical Mongolian Beef, and my Samoan attorney had Kung Pao Chicken. You can&#8217;t get more Americanized mainstream than that&#8230;and they were both very good! Egg roll still tasted thick and frozen food like. Egg drop soup however was up a step! Both meal&#8217;s meats were high quality and seasoned/cooked to perfection. Bottom line&#8230;I really like this place for their truly chinese dishes on the &#8220;chinese specialty menu&#8221; (see link to my earlier review below) and now also for the &#8220;regular american menu&#8221;, and the people and service really can&#8217;t be beat. I&#8217;m still looking for a Chinese five star, but I&#8217;m not sure if it exists on this side of the hill.</p>

<p>I myself have only had good experiences here. Of course, I only go at lunch time where they bring your food out SUPER QUICK and are again QUICK to drop your bill off 5 minutes after they&#8217;ve served you your food. Not bad for those that are on a 60 minute lunch break though. I highly, highly recommend the Mandrin Fired Chicken! The Chicken, half <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/fried-rice/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with fried rice">fried rice</a>, and half chowmein makes one hell of a lunch!</p>
<p>Have come here a couple of times for lunch with coworkers. We have always been seated and orders taken right away. The staff is friendly and attentive. I have gotten the chicken curry and garlic chicken, both were good and they give you plenty that you have to take the rest home (which is enough for a whole other meal). Prices are very reasonable.</p>
<p>Without a doubt the surliest waitstaff I&#8217;ve seen in a long time. &#8220;You order now?&#8221; &#8220;What you want?&#8221; &#8220;You? Next, you?&#8221; &#8220;Steam or fried, steam or fried?&#8221; Ok, I get it, forget the charm and prepositions, let&#8217;s just move on to business. <br/><br/>The food is unremarkable. I had sweet and sour fish, it was just as you would expect, fried with a day-glo sauce. The soup and salads that they give to each person is totally mediocre. I had a weird metallic taste in my mouth after my lunch. I usually get that with MSG, but we asked and they said there was no MSG before we ordered, but who really knows. <br/><br/>I agree with Daniel M., the prices are negotiable. Each person&#8217;s lunch was a dollar more than listed on the menu, with no notice. I guess the menu sets a price &#8220;suggestion.&#8221; I suggest they write their prices down. <br/><br/>I wouldn&#8217;t go back. Chinese lunch places are a dime a dozen, and there are other places that have the real prices listed with nicer service.</p>

<p>Question: A food junkie (me) who takes pictures of EVERYTHING does not even think about her camera when: a) She&#8217;s Cold from the outside weather b) She&#8217;s hungry c) She hasn&#8217;t had Chinese Congee and Noodles in SO So Long d) She&#8217;s been wanting to try Congee Noodle House since forever e) The first plate out looks sooo delish f) a,b,c,d, and e! Maybe it was all those reasons that made my experience at Congee Noodle House was so awesome&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230; but NO, really!!! Everything from the food to the service was above my expectations, and I do not have any expectations for Chinese diners at all! Tea glasses were always filled, and the waitors and waitresses were super nice&#8230; one gentleman thought we were finished with our meal and felt really bad when he offered to pack it up&#8230; he politely told <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/us/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with US">us</a> to take our time and apologized. Our food &#8211; BBQ Duck Congee&#8230;. the duck was so juicy and meaty&#8230;&#8230; really enhanced the flavours to the already tasteful congee..it was thick and well blended with peanuts and chinese onions for garnish.. and of course i had to get an order of : Vancouver&#8217;s 101 Best Eats: Chinese Doughnuts! (correction &#8211; they do not make them out of tofu)&#8230; they were deep fried, but not overly crispy, leaving a doughy texture for eating by itself or dipping it into the congee! I was craving brisket so I convinced my boyfriend to order the special beef brisket and vegetable chow mein.. I&#8217;m not a fan of the crispy noodles but after I mixed everything up, the noodles softened just the way I liked. You should&#8217;ve seen my eyes light up when I saw the dish &#8211; the pieces of brisket were HUGE&#8230; fatty at some parts. but was the portion ever big!!!!!!!!!! The bak choy was crisp and i wish there was more of it but I was happy with that was given.</p>
<p>Even though it&#8217;s a congee/noodle place, it could pretty much double as a Hong Kong cafe. Food is served quick and with good quality. I love the congee and the noodles they serve here: The congee is thick and creamy (who would like watery congee anyway?), and the noodles, whether fried or in soup has a nice bounce to it. So far, I have yet to experience the noodles being under/overcooked. Of course, this isn&#8217;t your <a href="http://www.chinesefoodworld.info/tag/chinese-seafood/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Chinese seafood">Chinese seafood</a> restaurant, so don&#8217;t expect any fancy entrees here. This is a great place for grabbing a bite with friends before heading off to someplace else. But like any Hong Kong eating place, service isn&#8217;t at its greatest, and one would experience it during rush hours when waiting for a table. My tip for everyone during those hours is be assertive. Remember, there are millions of Chinese people on this Earth, you want to be noticed by a Chinese server? You better put yourself out there and be noticed! Another great thing is that they&#8217;re open quite late, and have their late night specials. But a word of caution, the late night special dishes are cheap, but they&#8217;re also small in portion. So if you haven&#8217;t eaten dinner yet, or you&#8217;re looking to fill a big appetite, then you should just order from their regular menu.</p>

<p>Found this place after realizing how expensive Kirin was! Cheap prices for large portions. Very casual, everyday type of place. Different kitchens (which are labeled with a sign) are located throughout the restaurant, focusing on different foods. They even have a vegetarian kitchen, to avoid cross-contamination with meat. The potstickers are a must &#8211; not doughy, very fresh and totally worth the sale price of $3.37! Open late, until midnight and they offer delivery!</p>
<p>I just went there for lunch today and I think the quality of the food has indeed gone down. To me, the true testament of a Cantonese noodle restaurant is the quality of its congee. We ordered a sliced chicken congee and a century egg congee with sliced pork, along with Chinese doughnuts (yu tiao / yao tiu). <br/><br/>Unless the restaurant specializes in Chiuchow / Swatow / Teochew cuisine (which Hon&#8217;s doesn&#8217;t), the congee should be thick and creamy. Both of our congees were watery. Besides, the flavour was overpowered by citrus peels which should only be used sparingly in beef or seafood dishes. Even my partner noticed it and he grew up on a farm in Michigan where pasta is considered ethnic food for most people in his community. We were not expecting fresh Chinese doughnuts because they are usually made fresh in the morning. However, our Chinese doughnuts were very doughy instead of airy. It was like chomping on a Tim Horton&#8217;s doughnut. <br/><br/>The service continues to be friendly although I&#8217;ve always had to flag down a wait staff to place our orders. Once you have their attention, they are always nice. <br/><br/>I will return to Hon&#8217;s just because it&#8217;s convenient and inexpensive but my visits will likely be less frequent. Congee Noodle House at 141 E Broadway will be my alternative since it is only a 10 minute drive for us and it has much better congee.</p>
